Antique 1910s Edwardian Jewelry, Rose Gold and 900 Silver, Acropolis of Athens

Antique Edwardian Period Mens Accessories Cufflinks, Rose Gold and 900 Silver Grand Tour of Europe, Vintage 1910s Greece Folk Jewelry Art.

RARE collectible antique 1910s Edwardian period 900 Sterling Silver and Rose Gold CUFF LINKS. This beautiful piece of jewelry recreates technique and look of very old historical Etruscan art. They are sterling and according to similar pieces from that time, the rose gold is probably 9 or 10 karat gold wash. The cuff links features a cutout metalwork of a well known Greek landmark, the Parthenon in the Acropolis of Athens.

The Grand Tour was the standard European vacation of the Georgian and Victorian eras until the beginning of the First World War in 1914. The opportunity it gave for studying culture, architecture and art made it a tradition, especially for the upper classes. And what better souvenir of this long trip than pieces of native souvenir jewelry such as Italian cameos, mosaic and pietra dura pieces. Pieces often also had historical inspirations from the remnants of Pompeii to the pyramids of Egypt, cultural learning was a focal point of the grand tour, the process of remembrance spilled over into jewelry souvenirs. One of the most remarkable group of designs came from Greece, usually mixing Continental Silver and Rose Gold like the present cufflinks. In a very good Antique condition.
