Vintage 1960s tribal rustic carved wood figurine. This jointed wooden toy is hand carved, hand made in West Timor, Indonesia, in Amanuban District by the Highland Atoni People. Indonesian craft people and artisans are very skillful and expressive in creating wood figurines and all other forms of wood crafts. They have a tradition of statuary. The most famous are the devotional statues but there has always been a wealth of smaller sculpture, amulets and charms performing a variety of functions - educational tools, a memorial to a deceased ancestor or toys for kids.
