The book was written by a curious and interesting woman who had a particular emotional connection with USA, Baroness Elizabeth Martineau des Chesnez's (1829-1906). She published several books including a chronicle of travels through West Coast of USA. Lady Green Satin is a "very delicious little juvenile" fiction story with a delightful plot.
