This is a compendium of recipes, processes and culinary art prevalent in the White House kitchen at the time. At approximate 600 pages, this book has the room to represent everything that the dedicated chef or the ordinary cook should know about food, how to prepare it, how to present it and all the ancillaries that accompany the process. The book discusses the making of various wines, cordials, beers and mead.
The authors, Chef Hugo Ziemann and Mrs. F L Gillette, were well known and respected practitioners of the culinary arts at the time. This book is a marvelous addition to anyone's collection or library or kitchen for that matter.
