Beautiful Vintage 1950s Toledo (Spain) Damascene Bracelet done in the late Art Deco period 1950s. This cute bracelet features elongated oval links with alternating gold foil motifs of birds and flowers. You can notice comparing it with other Spanish pieces that the style is less geometric and also less elaborated than the previous from 1930s-40s. But the theme is more feminine and in some way romantic focusing on nature.
The technique was originate in Damascus Syria and became truly popular in western Europe at the end of the 1930s, mainly through the Spanish and Japanese Damascene works like this one. On Spain it was usual that the gold was got using "Oro Fino" or pure fine gold over the brass. The Spanish Damascene has usually two themes; floral naturalist and abstract geometric. The bracelet is a very good vintage condition. the security chain is broken but very easy to repair. In a very good vintage condition!
